Job summary

San Diego County Water Authority seeks Maintenance Worker I/II to perform hands-on construction, installation, repair and preventive maintenance of pipelines, equipment, buildings, and grounds across the aqueduct system. Duties include operating equipment, following safety procedures, and supporting after-hours emergency response as needed.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a strong work ethic; candidates may advance from I to II with experience and demonstrated proficiency.

Qualifications

• Equivalents to the completion of the twelfth grade and, desirably, a Water Distribution Operator Certificate D-1.
• Experience with construction trades, landscaping, warehouse, military, or facilities work is valued.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools in field maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in construction, installation, repair and maintenance of the aqueduct and related facilities.
• Operates light- and medium-duty vehicles and a variety of hand and power tools; performs safety checks and maintenance.
• Repairs, maintains, and installs fences, gates, pipes, meters, and related infrastructure.
• Maintains and repairs buildings, grounds, and rights-of-way; follows safety procedures.
