Job summary

The City of Stafford is seeking a dedicated worker to perform maintenance, landscaping, and general operational duties for city facilities and rights-of-way. This role includes mowing, edging, trimming, and ensuring safety and cleanliness across assigned areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining small equipment, monitoring facilities, and assisting with traffic control. A valid Texas driver’s license is required, and overtime may be required in emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Texas Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Performs and technical maintenance and operational activities
• Operate, service and maintain a variety of small equipment or tools
• Clean, edge and mow street and drainage right-of-ways
• Trims trees, shrubbery and maintains landscape
• Monitors and maintains assigned areas, facilities, and equipment; removes trash or debris; prepares site and equipment for necessary repairs or cleaning; maintains traffic control as required.
• Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing other essential duties as assigned.
• Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
• Subject to 24 hour recall: The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime including during emergency situations (defined as any natural or man-made disaster that may or may not necessitate the relocation of City personnel or citizens). In the event of an emergency and/or a required evacuation, the incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position.
