Job description

Slip Robotics is a B2B Robotics-as-a-Service company deploying autonomous loading and unloading robots — SlipBots and SlipLifts — at warehouse and fulfillment sites across North America. Our customers are some of the largest shippers and 3PLs in the industry, and we're scaling fast. We build the robots, we deploy them, and we keep them running.

The Field Logistics Manager owns the strategy, systems, and operations that keep the right parts in the right place to meet customer service-level commitments. This is a builder role: you will take a function that today runs on manual workarounds and reactive effort, and turn it into a scalable inventory and logistics operation built to support a growing fleet across an expanding geographic footprint.

Responsibilities:

  • Field Inventory Strategy & Control
    • Own inventory control as a discipline across the field: establish the standards, governance, and system configuration that keep field inventory accurate and auditable at all times
    • Define min/max stocking levels, reorder triggers, and safety stock policy for the HQ field warehouse and every field stocking location — calibrated to fleet size, observed failure rates, and customer SLA requirements
    • Own the parts consumption governance model: define how consumption is captured, reconciled, and analyzed; own the field parts consumption tracking tool and its rollout, and use consumption data to drive replenishment and forecasting decisions
    • Establish and maintain part master and BOM integrity for field consumption — eliminate the manual part-number translation that currently slows field fulfillment by building a clean, field-consumable parts catalog mapped to current and legacy builds
    • Define cycle count cadences, audit protocols, and reconciliation standards; hold the Field Logistics Coordinator accountable to execution and ensure system records reflect physical reality
    • Define the RMA lifecycle and disposition policy: set the criteria for scrap versus refurbish, own the refurbished-parts pipeline in partnership with Production, and govern the segregation of quarantine, refurbished, and field-service inventory
    • Establish inventory KPIs — parts fill rate, inventory accuracy, stockout frequency, carrying cost, and consumption forecast accuracy — and report performance to the Head of Service Delivery on a regular cadence
  • Logistics Operations & Network Scaling
    • Own the field parts storage network strategy: determine where parts are stocked, when to add or consolidate field warehouse locations, and how the network must evolve as fleet density and geographic footprint grow
    • Own the analysis of where to position inventory based on customer SLA exposure — model the relationship between parts placement, response time, and contractual service commitments, and adjust the stocking strategy as market density shifts the requirements
    • Own carrier and freight vendor strategy: source, negotiate, and manage relationships with shipping carriers and parts vendors; establish cost-effective, time-reliable lanes for both standard and emergency logistics
    • Own the consumable and spare-parts vendor strategy: establish supplier partnerships and ordering frameworks that ensure availability without overstock; define what is stocked, sourced on demand, or direct-shipped
    • Own the cross-border logistics framework for international sites (Mexico as the immediate priority): establish the customs documentation, compliance, and freight processes that the Coordinator executes against — removing the current ad hoc, dependency-driven model Govern the end-to-end field logistics workflow: inbound from Production and vendors, outbound to sites, inter-site transfers, bot rotations, returns, and decommission — ensuring the Coordinator has clear, documented processes for each
    • Build and maintain the SOPs and system configurations that make field logistics repeatable and scalable as volume grows
  • Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
    • Directly manage the Field Logistics Coordinator: set clear performance expectations and process standards, provide regular feedback and coaching, and develop the role as the function scales
    • Build the field logistics team over time: identify when volume and complexity justify additional headcount (warehouse staff, regional logistics support) and make the case for it
    • Coordinate the handoff of parts from production into field stock — aligning part numbering standards and ensuring field inventory records accurately reflect what is received from the production floor
    • Partner with Field Engineering and Field Maintenance to translate fleet repair demand, campaign requirements, and failure trends into inventory and stocking decisions Partner with Customer Support and Service Delivery leadership to ensure parts availability supports SLA performance, and to surface logistics risks before they become customer-impacting
    • Partner with Applications Engineering on deployment logistics as that function matures, ensuring field stock and shipment readiness align with the deployment pipeline
    • Represent field logistics in new customer onboarding and fleet planning: confirm parts availability, stocking strategy, and logistics readiness ahead of go-live
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, logistics, or field service supply operations — with demonstrated ownership of inventory strategy across multiple stocking locations
  • Proven experience designing and implementing inventory control systems from the ground up: min/max frameworks, cycle count programs, consumption tracking, and reorder governance
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP or inventory management system (NetSuite or comparable); able to configure, audit, and drive data quality — not just consume reports
  • Experience managing field warehousing or a multi-location parts network, including decisions about where and how much to stock Strong analytical capability: able to model inventory positioning against service-level requirements, forecast demand from consumption data, and make data-driven stocking decisions
  • Experience managing carrier and vendor relationships, including negotiation and freight lane optimization
  • People management experience: able to set expectations, develop direct reports, and hold a team accountable to process standards
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving, scaling environment with limited existing infrastructure — builder mentality required

Preferred:

  • Experience in a field service, robotics, industrial equipment, or hardware-as-a-service environment where parts availability is tied to contractual uptime commitments
  • Experience scaling a parts or logistics function through a period of rapid fleet or customer growth
  • Familiarity with RMA, depot repair, refurbishment, or reverse logistics operations
  • Exposure to cross-border logistics and customs compliance, particularly U.S. – Mexico Experience implementing or evaluating inventory/warehouse management tooling (WMS, asset tracking, consumption platforms)
  • Competitive salary and equity in an early-stage robotics company
  • Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision
  • Permissive time off policy
