Job summary

LeCom Utility Contractors is seeking field personnel to repair and maintain major telecom and power cable systems. You'll read work orders, interpret drawings, and perform pole work, cable placement, and underground tasks on outdoor sites across remote locations.

Qualifications include a valid Class A CDL, ability to lift 75 lbs, and experience with telecom line construction. Drug tests and background checks apply; safety is paramount.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Extensive knowledge of telecom line construction practices.
• Identify differences in wire and cable colors.
• Lift moderately heavy equipment up to 75 lbs; climb structures; stand long periods.
• First aid procedures and CPR knowledge.
• Ability to apply mathematic calculations (fractions for drilling and pole sizing; calculate material/length).
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at high elevations.
• Willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with governmental orders.
• Ability to read work orders and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains major cable system and structures related to outages, maintenance, rebuilds and emergencies.
• Reads and interprets work orders, specifications, drawings and cut sheets to determine work sequence.
• Performs construction tasks such as digging holes, climbing poles, placing/removing poles and anchors, pulling and stringing wire/cable, laying cable and conduit.
• Operates power equipment such as compressors, pumps, blowers, hydraulic diggers, and hydraulic aerial lifts on trucks.
• Uses test equipment to check for gas in manholes; may need to clear water/debris from manholes.
• Dismantles, moves, and removes aerial/underground equipment and hardware.
• Responds to outages and emergency situations requiring heavy construction capabilities.
• Ensures safety of customers and public and compliance with all orders.
• All work outdoors, in remote locations and inclement weather.
