Job summary

McGough Construction CO, LLC is seeking a Construction Field Layout Technician proficient in survey layout, field operations, and supervisory tasks. The role includes guiding the Rodman, maintaining field notes, and ensuring adherence to DOT and industry standards while operating with CAD tools and standard software.

The candidate should have a high school diploma with extensive field experience in staking, elevation control, total stations, and survey equipment, plus strong communication skills

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 5 years of experience in construction field engineering with knowledge of staking, elevation control, total stations and survey equipment.
• Preferred: bilingual Spanish/English; 10 years of experience in construction field engineering with knowledge of staking, elevation control, total stations, and survey equipment.
• Knowledge of CAD to plot a project; Proficient in Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Familiar with survey equipment, company survey standards, tolerances; ability to train others in field procedures.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to write memos and records in standard format.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety procedures in surveying and construction.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Rodman and provide guidance on survey tasks.
• Create and maintain field notes and logs for each survey task.
• Perform checks with calculator, computer, and data collector to verify layout against plans.
• Coordinate with internal teams and contractors to align survey efforts.
• Ensure safety and quality control in field operations.
