Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company is hiring General Laborers to join our field teams at multiple Richmond-area job sites. This full-time, year-round role involves outdoor work in all seasons, operating around heavy equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols.

Candidates must be 18+, pass a pre-employment physical and drug test, and be able to lift moderate to heavy loads. Typical shift starts between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM at various sites with potential overtime, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening.
• 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in the US.
• Willingness to perform manual labor and work outdoors in all seasons.

Responsibilities

• Flagging, traffic closures and related tasks as assigned.
• Clean and prepare sites; dig trenches; set braces; remove debris.
• Install erosion and sediment controls (e.g., silt fence and barriers).
• Perform routine manual labor to support projects.
• Wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves) and follow safety rules.
