The Field Laborer is directly responsible for supporting field operations on active job sites, including site preparation, material handling, fire watch, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This role requires working safely, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. The Field Laborer represents High Country Industrial in a professional manner while supporting customers and upholding high standards of safety and quality.

Position Requirements

General Requirements:

• Previous construction, labor, or outdoor work experience preferred (1+ year)
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting up to 75 lbs, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and varying job site environments
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools and willingness to learn
• Ability to follow directions and work safely under supervision
• Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to job site safety
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members
• Basic math and problem-solving skills
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements:

This job is considered medium to heavy work in nature with occasional heavy tasks.

Maximum lifting of up to 75 pounds with frequent lifting of weights up to 50 pounds.

Typically standing and walking for 6 hours out of an 8-hour day.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions vary depending on the weather and changes to the indoor environment (which cannot always be predicted or controlled).

Site Support & Labor Tasks – 50%

Assist with general labor duties on job sites including but not limited to:

• Loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment.
• Assisting welders, operators, and other skilled trades as needed.
• Site preparation including digging, grading, and material staging.
• Assisting with equipment setup and teardown.

Fire Watch Duties (as assigned):

• Perform fire watch responsibilities during and after hot work operations (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.).
• Monitor surrounding areas for fire hazards, sparks, and heat transfer during active work.

General Tasks – 20%

• Attend daily safety meetings and job briefings (JHAs/toolbox talks).
• Follow direction from Foreman or Superintendent to complete assigned tasks.

Site Organization & Safety – 20%

• Maintain clean and organized job sites at all times.
• Remove debris, trash, and excess materials on a regular basis.
• Assist with proper storage and organization of tools and materials.

Collaboration – 5%

• Work effectively with field crews to meet daily production goals.
• Communicate task progress, concerns, or issues to the Foreman.

Continuous Improvement – 5%

• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, safety, and efficiency.
• Participate in safety and process improvement initiatives.
• Support efforts to reduce rework, delays, and safety incidents.

Measures of Performance:

• Adherence to safety policies and procedures.
• Productivity and completion of assigned tasks.
