Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Construction Materials Technician to join our field and lab testing team in St. Cloud, MN. You will perform sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt in the field and laboratory, documenting results and maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 2 years of construction materials testing experience.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification is required.
• Excellent plan reading and documentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving history.
• Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to complex sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt in the field and laboratory.
• Conduct testing in accordance with project specifications and standards.
• Document field activities and test results clearly and daily in electronic format.
• Transport samples from job sites to the laboratory for testing and analysis.
• Communicate testing requirements, observations, and results with project personnel and contractors.
• Ensure QA and safety requirements are followed with the project team.
• Mentor junior staff and support their technical development.
• Maintain safety practices during sampling, testing, and field activities.
• Read and interpret construction plans to ensure proper testing coverage.
• Support a steady backlog of projects by meeting deadlines.
