Job summary

Westat, Inc. is seeking Field Interviewers for the MEPS study to conduct in-person and computer-assisted video interviews with adults in households across designated areas.

The role requires travel to training and potentially overnight trips, with two data collection periods annually during the year. You will work part-time, mostly evenings and weekends, and complete daily data transmission and documentation.

Qualifications

• Be 18 or older (or emancipated minor) with the ability to enter binding confidentiality agreements to protect project information.
• Be available to complete mandatory web-based home study training between January 4 and January 15, 2027, prior to the start of in-person training.
• Be available to travel to and attend mandatory in-person training, including travel on January 19, 2027 and five-and-a-half days of training January 20–25, 2027.
• Be available to complete additional mandatory web-based and virtual training activities after the in-person training, including a post-training home study January 26–31, 2027.
• Reside in and travel within project-designated areas to contact households and conduct in-person interviews, including local and overnight travel as needed.
• Be available to work the data collection period from January 2027 to December 2030.
• Be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, mostly evenings and weekends, with limited daytime work based on household preferences.
• Meet physical requirements: lift 20 pounds, walk several blocks, climb stairs while carrying equipment.
• Have a fully insured vehicle and a valid driver's license not under suspension.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person and computer-assisted video interviews with adults in households.
• Contact households to introduce the study, set appointments, complete interviews, and collect documents.
• Transmit electronic data daily on interview days and comply with data security requirements.
• Attend mandatory training and complete required paperwork as part of field operations.
• Work under supervision and support field operations across multiple rounds of data collection.
