Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking Field Interviewers to conduct in-person, face-to-face interviews as part of a sensitive data collection study. You will administer questionnaires, follow detailed protocols, and perform standardized measurements in diverse households within an 80-mile travel radius.

Training runs October 5–14, 2026 in Michigan, with ongoing production through July 2027. The position requires a minimum of 25 hours per week, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel;

Qualifications

  • SRO-certified bilingual English/Spanish required for data collection.
  • Experience with physical measures or healthcare-related tasks preferred.

Job description

Role:Field Interviewer

Training Dates: October 5 through October 14, 2026 (Travel to MI 10/5, and travel home 10/14)

Training Mode: In-person

Production Dates: Now - July 2027

Required Availability: minimum of 25 hours per week

Data Collection Mode: In-person

Differential:$2/hr complex data collection protocols, $2/hr bilingual Spanish certified

Required Qualifications and Duties:

  • Work a minimum of 25 hours per week
  • Live within 80 miles of the sample area
  • A flexible schedule that allows work on weekdays, evenings, and weekends to accommodate study participants' availability
  • Work in large blocks of time, 5+ hours
  • Attend training October 5 - 14, 2026 (in Michigan)
  • Complete all asynchronous online training prior to attending in-person training
  • Attend all training and successfully complete all certifications at training
  • Follow highly detailed, step-by-step protocols, including standardized physical and biomarker measurements
  • Administer questionnaires that contain sensitive subjects/questions
  • Perform face-to-face interviews in various diverse households and neighborhoods, some of which may be disadvantaged
  • Ability totraverse several blocks at a time, including ascending and descending stairs, reaching the floor and overhead,remaining stationary for up to three hours, and transporting equipment weighing approximately 30 pounds
  • Attend mandatory weekly virtual team meetings on weekdays during business hours.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable private vehicle (rideshares, e.g., Uber or Lyft, buses, and subways are not private transportation), and the ability to travel up to 80 miles one way to study participants' homes. Residents in select areas, such as Manhattan, may be exempted
  • A private and quiet area in your home where study equipment and confidential study materials can be secured
