Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or GED.
  • 0–6 months of preferred experience involving in-field data collection on state, federal or municipal lands.
  • Able to travel and work at assigned sites.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct recreation surveys at sites adjacent to national marine sanctuary waters in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Plan survey site drive times using GPS and maps; check Google Drive schedules daily.
  • Set up interviewing sites to ensure safety of self and visitors.
  • Download data from tablets and report status to field supervisor.
  • Maintain neat, orderly surveys and daily counts.
  • Compile weekly site-use reports and weather condition notes for the field supervisor.
  • Adhere to WVU data collection policies and safety signage requirements.
  • Be able to drive long distances in early morning/evening hours.
  • Work independently without direct supervision.
