The Field Installation Technician will be responsible for performing field service, including installation and onsite support, on Planar hardware and software products. This includes troubleshooting and repairs for customer installations. The technician will collaborate with engineers to resolve field product issues.
What You'll Do:
- Install displays, mounting hardware, A/V equipment, and interconnectivity equipment at customer locations, independently or with a team.
- Maintain and service installed products at customer sites.
- Set up and dismantle products for demos and trade shows.
- Report and escalate product issues.
- Work with Technical Support and Engineering to resolve issues beyond standard troubleshooting.
- Provide training and certification to integrators onsite when applicable.
- Document completed projects accurately.
- Support Tech Support/Helpdesk in answering customer technical requests via phone and email.
- Communicate end-user feedback and issues, and propose solutions.
- Maintain professional conduct and punctuality.
- Handle stress effectively and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements
What You'll Need:
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and decision-making skills.

- Ability to document installations effectively.
- Understanding of order and escalation processes.

- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Comfort with hand tools.
- Basic electronics and connectivity knowledge.
- Understanding of HVAC and power requirements.
- Knowledge of A/V cables (HDMI, CAT 6).
- Ability to read wiring schematics and system drawings, including Visio and CAD.
- Knowledge of third-party control systems (Creston, AMX) and system integration is a plus.
- Government clearance is desirable.
- Ability to work on ladders for extended periods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
What You'll Need To Bring:
- Associates degree or equivalent in a technical field.
- 2-4+ years of relevant technical experience, preferably in A/V.
Other Requirements:
- Availability for occasional weekends and overtime.
- Heavy lifting capability.
- Extensive travel required.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle with insurance.
