JOB SUMMARY

As a Field Installation & Support Technician, you will be essential in deploying and supporting Safe Fleet technology solutions on customer vehicles. This involves traveling to customer sites to install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware components, ensuring systems are operational and ready for use.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Travel to customer locations across the U.S. and Canada to install equipment such as main computing units, ECM Y-connectors, touchscreen monitors, vehicle-mounted cameras, and external sensors like lift arm sensors, proximity sensors, and RFID readers.
• Configure and verify installations to ensure systems are online and functional.
• Perform final commissioning and testing to confirm vehicles are ready for dispatch.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and system issues.
• Replace or repair defective components, including reprogramming or re-imaging devices as needed.
• Provide hands-on training to customers and technicians on system operation and maintenance.
• Serve as a technical resource during and after installation.
• Perform other related tasks to support the Field Services team’s success.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, IT, or related field preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in field service, technical support, or equipment installation.
• Experience with vehicle electronics, telematics, or fleet management systems is a plus.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Familiar with networking, wiring, and system configuration.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%) across the U.S. and Canada.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
