Job summary

Mabe Steel Inc. is seeking an Install Welder to join our on-site team. You will install, plumb and align structural members at active job sites, weld in all positions per drawings and AWS D1.1, and prepare welds for inspection while following safety rules.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of structural field welding, AWS D1.1 certification, proficiency in SMAW and FCAW, and strong blueprint reading, with comfort working outdoors at heights on active construction sites.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of structural field welding and installation experience.
• AWS D1.1 structural certification (or ability to pass a Mabe Steel weld test).
• Proficient in SMAW (stick) and FCAW (flux-core) in all positions.
• Strong blueprint reading, layout and problem-solving skills.
• Fully comfortable welding outdoors and at elevated heights in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Install, fit, plumb and align structural members and detailed material in the field, often at elevated heights.
• Weld in all positions per drawings, specifications and AWS D1.1 requirements.
• Read and interpret erection and shop drawings; organize material for each install.
• Identify fit-up problems, drawing conflicts and errors, and bring solutions to the Foreman.
• Prepare welds for inspection and correct any rejected work.
• Follow hot-work, fire watch and fall protection requirements.
