Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Construction Inspector to support water and wastewater facilities construction in the NYC Metro area and Springfield, MA. You will observe, report, and document field activities, coordinating with the CM team and engineering staff to ensure compliance with drawings and specs.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of construction observation, familiarity with civil/structural/mechanical/electrical work, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of construction observation experience.
• Familiarity with civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical work.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with multidisciplinary teams
• Willing to travel and stay local to NYC Metro area.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and MS Project.
• Municipal water/wastewater construction inspection preferred.
• B.S. or A.S. in Engineering or related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret drawings, specs, and work plans to verify contractor compliance.
• Conduct on-site observation, monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of construction activities.
• Verify and track work per approved shop drawings.
• Observe contractor safety and adherence to requirements.
• Prepare daily reports, verify quantities and T&M records, and review pay applications.
• Monitor schedule adherence and field activity sequencing.
• Maintain redline and as-built drawings.
• Coordinate with CM Project team, engineering groups, contractors, and third-party firms.
• Assist startup, testing checkout, and training activities.
• Maintain inspection and testing documentation as necessary.
