Job summary

CDM Smith in Fairfax, VA is seeking an on-site field Inspector to support our Transportation Construction group at project locations across multiple states. You will perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout and materials, working under direct supervision

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and little to no formal experience. Travel 20%-40% is expected depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license required.
• 0 years of experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties and project demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor; review daily reports and QA procedures; verify conformance with Quality Control Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and/or in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement.
