Collier County is seeking a field inspector to perform comprehensive inspections of capital improvement construction projects, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and approved plans. You will interpret regulations, coordinate with contractors, engineers, and property owners, and document field conditions for final acceptance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, five years of related experience, and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Performs field inspections of capital improvement construction projects to ensure compliance with codes and approved plans.
• Interprets and ensures compliance with state, county, and local codes and regulations; initiates corrective actions for deviations.
• Provides information and technical assistance regarding construction plans and non-compliance issues; discusses problems with contractors, engineers, and owners.
• Coordinates inspection activities with County divisions, engineers, contractors, property owners, and others; schedules inspections and meetings; attends pre-construction meetings.
• Reviews construction plans, specifications, permits, and related documentation for compliance; verifies calculations and depths; monitors non-conformance and corrective actions.
• Performs plan checks and field verifications; documents field conditions with photos; ensures final acceptance inspections are completed.
• Maintains logs, inspection reports, and records; enters inspection data; closes permit records in system.
• Follows safety procedures and maintains knowledge of applicable laws and standards; participates in training as appropriate.
