Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to join our Transportation Construction team. You will perform inspections of traffic control, layout, methods and materials under direct supervision, ensuring plans and specs are met.

You will review contractor reports, verify QC procedures and may sample materials or perform tests. Domestic and/or international travel 20%–40% may be required; a valid driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications from State Highway Agency or NICET may be required by client/jurisdiction.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Determine acceptability of day-to-day contractor work; review daily reports and QC procedures.
• May be required to sample materials and perform in-place testing of soil, base, concrete and asphalt.
