Job summary

STRATA, a geotechnical engineering and materials testing firm, seeks a Special Inspector in Salt Lake City, UT. The role entails field observation, sampling, and QA/QC testing per industry standards and project specs. Candidates should travel to remote sites and maintain timely reports.

Qualified applicants will have ACI/ICC certification and 1–3 years in a similar role, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft software. Valid driver's license required; AWS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• ACI and/or ICC certification in concrete field testing, soils, reinforced concrete, and/or post-tensioned concrete.
• 1–3 years of prior Special Inspector experience.
• A team approach to problem-solving and strong communication skills.
• Ability to operate a computer to prepare accurate reports and use Microsoft software.
• Professional demeanor and client-service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field construction observation and material testing to verify compliance with codes and project specs.
• Collect samples and perform QA/QC tests per AASHTO, ATM, and IBC standards.
• Compile detailed inspection records and report results timely and accurately.
• Maintain and calibrate field and lab testing equipment.
• Support laboratory testing in line with QMS and project requirements.
