Job summary

HMH Engineering in Missoula, MT is seeking inspectors and technicians to perform special inspections and testing of construction materials in the field.

This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends as workload demands. The pay range is $26-$38 per hour, dependent on experience, with opportunities for growth and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of special inspection and/or construction materials testing experience.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Monitor materials, installation, fabrication, erection, and placement to ensure plans/specs compliance.
• Accurately prepare daily field reports with test result calculations.
• Perform field observations and materials sampling/testing on buildings, bridges, roadways.
• Conduct tests on soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel, and paving.
• Write daily field reports noting contractor work and contract compliance.
• Cast field samples for strength verification (concrete, masonry, grout).
• Provide updates to the Project Manager on daily progress.
• Collect samples and deliver to the laboratory; transport equipment as needed.
• Mentor and support team members to build a high-performing group.
