As a Field Inspector (Compliance/Maintenance Specialist II or III), you will work alongside our Land Development Engineers, inspecting Site Development projects to ensure construction compliance.Examples of job responsibilities include...
> Compliance Maintenance Specialist II: This is a supportive and technical role ideal for candidates with foundational experience. Responsibilities include inspecting site development projects, reviewing permits, attending project meetings, and assisting with construction plans and materials review.
> Compliance Maintenance Specialist III: This advanced role is suited for experienced inspectors. In addition to the duties above, you'll apply greater technical expertise, exercise independent judgment, and take on more responsibility for project oversight and decision-making.
Work Hours:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
Typical Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (no weekends!)
As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
> Compliance Maintenance Specialist II:
High School Diploma or its equivalent -AND- Three (3) years of related work experience in construction/maintenance, contract applicable construction trades, or in a field providing technical/supervisory services to construction/maintenance contractors.
-OR- College or university level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction experience.
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
> Compliance Maintenance Specialist III:
High School Diploma or its equivalent -AND- Four (4) years of related work experience; two (2) of which must be in related inspecting experience.
-OR- College or university level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction experience.
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

Strong knowledge of construction practices, standards, regulations, and alternative procedures.
Skilled in interpreting plans/specs, producing accurate reports, and using construction inspection tools (e.g., levels, pip locators).
Proficient with computers; familiar with traffic controls and code enforcement procedures.
Training or coursework in inspection techniques, quality control, materials testing, building codes, and regulatory compliance.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for five (5) years.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
Starting Pay Range:
> Compliance Maintenance Specialist II: $21.85 - $25.04, based on experience.
> Compliance Maintenance Specialist III: $23.56 - $27.74, based on experience.
