Job summary

CES Consultants, Inc. in New York, NY is seeking an Inspector to perform daily field inspections on NYCDDC pedestrian ramp projects, ensuring contractor work conforms to plans, specs, and safety rules.

You will review drawings, prepare daily inspection reports, monitor materials and workmanship to NYCDDC/NYCDOT/NYCDEP standards, coordinate with residents and engineers, and support quantity tracking and progress reporting. Travel to project sites will be extensive.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or NICET II certification.
• Minimum 5 years of construction inspection experience on NYCDDC pedestrian ramp projects.
• Familiarity with NYCDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
• Ability to read construction drawings and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily on-site inspections of construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Prepare and maintain daily construction inspection reports documenting work performed, contractor labor/equipment, quantity of material received and verified, observed issues, and contractor activities.
• Ensure materials, methods, and workmanship meet NYCDDC, NYCDOT, and NYCDEP standards.
• Participate in coordination meetings and represent the inspection team as required.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
• Identify unsafe conditions, code violations, and site hazards; ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Document and report field issues or deviations from plans and communicate inspection findings to the Resident Engineer.
• Monitor and enforce site safety requirements, including OSHA regulations and NYCDDC safety protocols.
• Assist with quantity tracking, payment verification, and progress reporting.
• Perform material sampling and testing to verify quality and adherence to project requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
