Job summary

GBA is welcoming civil engineering, construction management, and other related majors to join our Transportation Group in Lenexa, Kansas for a summer Field Inspection Engineering Internship. You will assist with inspection of roadway and bridge projects, field materials testing and the desire to lead projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited program.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Self-motivated, optimistic attitude.
• Excellent organizational and computer documentation skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry field equipment and samples for testing, 50lb lift test required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a physical and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Perform field materials testing on soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
• Observe and inspect construction to ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Perform project documentation, keeping timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare pay applications, change orders and general administrative duties.
• Perform environmental inspections.
• Other duties as assigned.
