Job summary

GBA Companies invites Civil Engineering students to join our Transportation market this summer for an internship in the Bridge group, based in Lenexa, KS and Chesterfield, MO. Interns gain hands-on experience and collaborate with industry experts, with mentorship and rotational opportunities.

You will work with Civil3D, AutoCAD and MicroStation, support bridge design and field assignments, perform calculations and quantity estimates, and contribute to a team dedicated to safe, high-quality

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Excel is preferred.
• 2.7 GPA strongly preferred; two years completed in college or university.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and 3D modeling of bridges.
• Support quality control processes and follow client design standards.
• Assist with design calculations and geometric layout.
• Help prepare plan quantities and cost estimates.
• Participate in field assignments such as construction inspections.

GBA Companies is welcoming Civil Engineering students to join us this upcoming summer for an internship in our Transportation market focusing on projects within our Bridge group.

Summary

Interns at GBA Companies gain hands‑on experience in a collaborative work environment and have an opportunity to work side by side with industry experts. We treat each intern as an individual and have the unique ability to offer rotational opportunities for students who are still identifying their path. Our interns will work with engineering software such as Civil3D, AutoCAD and MicroStation.

What You'll Do

As a Civil Engineering Intern, you'll:

• Assist with design and 3D modeling of bridges.
• Support quality control processes and follow client design standards.
• Assist with design calculations and geometric layout.

• Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

• Pursuing BS or MS in Civil Engineering or other related field from accredited program.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Excel software is preferred
• Experience with transportation and bridge related projects or internships is preferred.
• 2.7 GPA strongly preferred
• Finished at least two years of school
• Involved in campus, community, and other volunteer activities and/ or organization
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk around the office for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
