Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates seeks an Industrial Hygiene Specialist in Oak Ridge, TN to provide hands‑on IH support for field and facility operations, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards.

The role involves exposure monitoring, sample collection, and advising on controls while collaborating with operations, engineering, and management to ensure safe work practices under applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• Education or professional background in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• 2+ years ES&H experience with emphasis on industrial hygiene in highly regulated environments.
• Practical experience using air sampling equipment, noise dosimeters, IH instrumentation, and exposure monitoring methods.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, ACGIH TLVs, NIOSH criteria, and exposure assessment practices.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to work across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day industrial hygiene support for facility, maintenance, construction, laboratory, and field activities.
• Conduct exposure assessments including personal and area air sampling, noise monitoring, and ventilation assessments.
• Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain IH sampling and monitoring equipment.
• Support field implementation of engineering controls, PPE, and exposure controls.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOE, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Document observations, monitoring results, and exposure information; assist in audits and inspections.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to incorporate IH requirements into work activities.
