Job summary

Total Safety is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Specialist to monitor client employees and contractors for physical and chemical stressors. The IH Specialist will perform exposure assessments, rank hazards, and develop IH sampling plans, while recognizing hazards and recommending controls.

Work involves field sampling, data management, and collaboration with customer safety teams to support safe operations in industrial environments.

Qualifications

• Industrial hygiene field investigations and exposure assessments.
• Personal and area air monitoring for hydrocarbons and particulates.
• Asbestos and lead air monitoring and bulk sampling.
• Noise dosimetry and area noise surveys.
• Indoor air quality investigations.
• Operation, calibration, and maintenance of IH sampling equipment.
• Field data collection, documentation, and basic analysis.
• Credentials: TWIC card eligibility and related testing.
• Ability to draft reports and build data tables from sampling results.

Responsibilities

• Oversee permits in refinery settings, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Issuing initial confined space permits and monitoring atmospheric tests.
• Conduct job walks with operations and contractors to identify hazards.
• Support with JSAs and guidance to mitigate hazards.
• Maintain and calibrate gas detection monitors and equipment.
• Perform site audits to improve safety practices and compliance.
• Collaborate with customer safety teams on daily operations and safety initiatives.
• Lead or participate in weekly safety meetings with contractors.
