Claros Technologies seeks a Field Pilot Engineer to bring PFAS destruction tech from lab to field. You will plan, deploy, operate, and optimize pilot systems at customer facilities worldwide, with up to 50% travel, interfacing with plant personnel and EHS teams to drive successful pilots.

Reporting to Engineering, you will create PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, BOMs, SOPs, and experimental plans while troubleshooting field challenges and analyzing data to push improvements.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Engineer who thrives in dynamic customer environments and is excited to bring innovative PFAS destruction technology from the lab to the field. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys traveling to customer sites, solving real-world technical challenges, collaborating directly with plant personnel, and leading pilot deployments that demonstrate the value of our technology.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Field Pilot Engineer will play a critical role in planning, preparing, deploying, operating, and optimizing pilot systems at customer facilities across a variety of industrial settings. This position requires up to 50% travel and a willingness to roll up your sleeves alongside fellow engineers and chemists to ensure successful pilot execution.

Successful candidates will be technically strong, resourceful problem-solvers who are comfortable working independently in customer facilities, interfacing with plant managers and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) personnel, and taking ownership of field challenges from initial setup through project completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the preparation, deployment, startup, operation, and demobilization of PFAS destruction pilot systems at customer facilities. Contribute to the development, testing, and optimization of pilot systems for PFAS destruction.

• Travel up to 50% to industrial, municipal, and commercial customer sites globally.

• Work directly with internal engineers, chemists, contractors, customer plant managers, operators, maintenance personnel, and EHS teams to ensure safe and successful pilot execution.

• Represent the company professionally at customer locations and build strong working relationships through technical expertise, responsiveness, and problem-solving.

• Develop engineering documentation required for fabrication of equipment, such as Process Flow Drawings (PFD), Process and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID), General Arrangement drawings (GA), Bills of Materials (BOM), and similar. Maintain engineering records, design updates, manuals, and change documentation.

• Write experimental plans and SOPs.

• Troubleshoot mechanical and engineering issues as they arise during customer field pilots

• Perform data collection and analysis to evaluate system performance and recommend improvements.

• Cross-train team members on basic equipment operation and troubleshooting tasks

• Plan and conduct in-house process and equipment development and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• 3 to 10 years of engineering experience in industrial processes, water/wastewater treatment, chemical manufacturing, process systems, field services, or similar environments, preferred.

• Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting mechanical, process, electrical, or equipment-related issues.

• Willingness and enthusiasm to travel up to 50% of the time to customer facilities.

• Comfortable working in industrial plant environments and participating in hands‑on equipment installation, startup, operation, and maintenance activities.

• Strong organizational and project execution skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
