Job summary

C3 Industries is seeking a People Business Partner to support assigned Michigan retail locations with employee relations, performance management, compliance, culture, and day-to-day people needs. This role emphasizes coaching managers, handling workplace concerns, and ensuring consistent HR practices across stores.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience, be willing to travel to multiple stores, and hold or pursuing HR certifications (PHR, SPHR).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years related experience, or equivalent.
• Must be willing to travel as needed to support assigned retail stores.
• PHR, SPHR or other HR certification, strongly preferred.
• Experience working with hourly team members required.
• Strong current knowledge of employment and labor laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of ADA, FMLA, and leave of absence processes.
• Working knowledge of KPIs and workforce metrics.
• Demonstrate credibility and confidentiality in handling employee issues.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and leaders across assigned markets, guiding employee relations and performance management.
• Apply knowledge of SOPs and employment practices to support consistent issue resolution.
• Coach leaders through employee relations concerns and disciplinary steps.
• Support employee relations matters by reviewing documentation and investigations.
• Build partnerships with store leaders and hourly employees through regular communication and field visits.
• Partner with leaders to implement HR and culture initiatives across locations.
• Assist with organizational changes, staffing, job descriptions, and people processes.
• Collaborate with Talent Acquisition on hiring needs and onboarding coordination.
• Support onboarding, transitions, performance reviews, and feedback processes at the store level.
• Contribute to HR training, tools, templates, and process improvements.
• Support leave of absence, accommodations, and workers’ compensation processes.
• Support offboarding activities and exit processes.
• Review HR reporting and metrics to identify trends and improvements.
• Escalate sensitive matters with HR leadership.
