Job summary

Sequoia Services LLC is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair a wide range of heavy construction equipment at job sites. The role is hands-on, independent, and suited for a fast-paced field environment, with familiarity with CAT equipment a plus.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordinating with site supervisors to minimize downtime while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or related field.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and transmissions.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with CDL Class B preferred.
• Willingness to travel, including overnight stays.
• DOT medical card possession or willingness to obtain.
• Welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy construction equipment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
• Troubleshoot equipment failures to minimize downtime
• Complete preventive maintenance to improve reliability and equipment life
• Repair or replace defective components in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
• Coordinate with site supervisors on scheduled and emergency repairs
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations
• Order and manage tools and replacement parts as needed
• Utilize CAT SIS and ET systems (preferred)
