Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking a versatile Forward Deployed Hardware Engineer to bridge lab development and fleet deployment. You will integrate mechanical and electrical payloads onto Autonomous Service Vessels, debug field systems, and iterate hardware designs in real-world missions near the water.

You will work with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Autonomy teams, lead rapid prototyping, and own dockside trials while partnering with fabrication shops to accelerate hardware deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related fields; master's a plus.
• 3+ years in integrated electromechanical systems, preferably in fielded or mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on mechanical assembly and fabrication (CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing).
• Hands-on electrical integration (power, cabling, connectors, PCB bring-up).
• Strong prototyping and system-level debugging ability.
• Comfort with CAD tools and basic electrical test equipment in field settings.
• Experience with Linux-based systems and networking basics.
• Willingness to work near water and in dynamic environments.
• Preferred: experience with autonomous systems or naval platforms.

Responsibilities

• Integrate mechanical and electrical payloads onto autonomous vessels and maritime platforms.
• Lead rapid prototyping to support field experiments and platform evolution.
• Perform system bring-up, integration, and troubleshooting of power, networking, sensors, and compute subsystems.
• Own dockside and sea trials; install hardware packages and validate systems in real environments.
• Feed design-for-assembly and field feedback into hardware development.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Autonomy teams to mature designs.
• Coordinate with suppliers and fabrication shops for fast component turnarounds.
• Contribute to documentation and training to scale deployment and manufacturing.
