Job summary

UES is seeking a Staff Geologist to support geological research and field activities. You will assist with collection, analysis, and reporting of geological data under guidance from senior staff, contributing to field investigations, laboratory testing, and environmental studies across projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Geology/Earth Sciences, 0–2 years of experience, and certifications such as FG and HAZWOPER.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or academic fieldwork preferred).
• Willingness to travel to field sites and work in outdoor environments.
• FG certification required, working toward PG if applicable by state.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current 8-hour refresher (if applicable).
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, field logging software, and GIS tools preferred.
• Experience leading field crews and completing Phase I/II ESAs, soil/groundwater sampling, and data interpretation.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in field investigations, sample collection, and data recording.
• Conduct basic laboratory tests on rocks, minerals, fossils, and related materials.
• Support the preparation of maps, figures, and technical reports.
• Follow established research methods and data collection procedures.
• Ensure work complies with safety, ethical, and environmental regulations.
• Stay informed on fundamental geological concepts and practices.
• Provide field and office support to senior geologists on active projects.
• Other duties as assigned.
