Job summary

Ryan Lawn & Tree is seeking a Field Fleet & Route Safety Specialist to champion fleet safety standards across branches. You will ride with drivers, coach in real time, review telematics and incidents, and partner with the Safety Manager to drive measurable improvements.

This safety-sensitive role requires an associate degree, 4+ years of fleet safety, Smith System certification, and travel about 50% to branches. Starting pay ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 with bonus opportunities.

Qualifications

Associate degree in safety-related field or related area.
4+ years in fleet safety, DOT compliance, or driver safety in multi-site settings.
Smith System Instructor certification required.
Willingness to travel roughly 50% to branches.

Responsibilities

Ride with drivers weekly to coach using Smith System techniques.
Deliver in-cab defensive driving and driver onboarding training at branches and job sites.
Partner with Safety Manager, Field Safety Specialist, and Learning Specialists to align safety programs.
Conduct route observations, roadside checks and on-site inspections.
Lead progressive coaching until behavior changes are achieved.
Deliver fleet safety modules and keep training aligned with field needs.
