Job summary

AT&T is seeking a Machine Operator in Saint Augustine, FL to install and maintain buried service wire using tractors, trenchers, plows, or other tools. You will coordinate with customers, utilities, and agencies while ensuring safety and high service levels.

Expected to work outdoors, lift heavy objects, and operate multiple machines. Training provided; overtime and travel may be required. Competitive pay and benefits accompany this hands‑on field role.

Qualifications

• Willing to work Monday through Friday with an 8‑hour shift.
• Overtime and holidays as service conditions require.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to operate various machines and tools.
• Lift and move objects up to 120 pounds.
• Use handheld devices to update work status and check assignments.
• Light CDL or equivalent and able to drive manual shift in some assignments.
• Attain and maintain a DOT medical card.
• Complete on‑the‑job and/or classroom training as required.
• Previous operating experience with similar equipment is desirable.
• May travel out of region/state due to workload.

Responsibilities

• Locates buried facilities near the route of service wire and operates a company vehicle with trailer and machinery.
• Locate buried facilities near the route of buried wire using appropriate equipment.
• Manual excavation utilizing a shovel.
• Provide repairs to low voltage buried utilities or sprinkler systems and temporary repairs as needed.
• Periodic maintenance and non‑complex repairs to equipment used in responsibilities.
• Reads and interprets simple instructions.
• Follow safety practices and manufacturer specifications for equipment use.
