Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Facility Maintenance Technician to service commercial properties across our Illinois territory. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems, using tablets and smartphones to manage work orders and document inspections.

Travel between sites, safety compliance training, and timely reporting of issues are essential. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of relevant experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or Degree/Certification preferred
• 2–5 years mechanical experience incl. electrical, plumbing, carpentry
• Related work in building trades
• Applicable certifications and licenses
• Valid driver’s license in good standing
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and safety manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to present information effectively
• Ability to complete work orders timely and communicate status
• Ability to use handheld devices and business systems
• Proficiency in MS Office and Lotus Notes
• Compliance with building, regulatory, OSHA, and safety requirements
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Ability to travel locally between properties
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to operate company vehicle daily
• Lock-out/tag-out and HAZCOM compliance

Responsibilities

• Deliver maintenance services to customers within an assigned geographic territory
• Travel by company van to client sites to service commercial properties
• Perform preventive and corrective repairs on buildings, equipment, and grounds
• Perform minor plumbing maintenance including unclogging toilets and leaks
• Perform routine painting and carpentry to maintain facilities
• Perform minor electrical maintenance as allowed by state law
• Complete service inspections and asset inspections
• Access and complete work orders using tablets and smartphones
• Create and submit service reports and inspection images
• Submit timesheets, expense reports, and logs
• Obtain materials and supplies needed for tasks
• Maintain positive customer relationships and communicate with customers and internal teams
• Complete safety and compliance training and attend weekly safety meetings
• Provide estimates for larger projects and services
• Complete assigned day-to-day repairs and emergency maintenance
