Job summary

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is seeking a Fish & Wildlife Biological Scientist II to manage invasive plant species and support EDRR efforts across multiple counties. The role involves field surveys, GIS mapping, chemical control, and equipment operation in a regional setting.

The incumbent will maintain reports, liaise with partners, and pursue required certifications, including a FDACS Pesticide Applicator license, with overnight travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and 2 years of post-high school experience in wildlife, fisheries, environmental, ecological or related fields.
• Vocational training or an associate’s degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Manage and control measures for federally listed noxious weeds across the panhandle and state.
• Apply integrated pest management including surveying, mapping, and chemical control.
• Operate, maintain, and repair equipment and vehicles (boats, spray gear, trucks).
• Prepare and submit timesheets, purchasing and accomplishments reports.
• Interact professionally with the public and partners about invasive plants.
