Job summary

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in Florida's Panhandle seeks a Fish & Wildlife Biological Scientist II to manage invasive plant species through field surveys, mapping and chemical control. The role emphasizes environmental stewardship and collaboration with public partners.

Responsibilities include reporting on timesheets and project accomplishments, operating fleet vehicles and equipment, and pursuing required pesticide certifications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus 2 years of post-high school experience in wildlife, fisheries, environmental, ecological or related areas.
  • Vocational training or an associate’s degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis for required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and control measures for two federally listed noxious weeds across the panhandle and other state areas.
  • Apply integrated pest management activities including surveying, mapping, and chemical control.
  • Plan, develop and maintain projects such as surveying, mapping and treating other EDRR species.
  • Operate, maintain and repair equipment and vehicles including trucks, boats and spray equipment.
