Job summary

AECOM has an opening for an Environmental Engineering Technician at our Amarillo, TX site. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, reliable and have good interpersonal communication skills.

Job duties include field sampling, equipment operation, and supporting remediation systems while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Travel to client sites and ability to work in varied environments are expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security pre-employment background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive and require periodic post-employment background checks.
• Ability to pass a client-mandated drug test.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to travel to various client sites locations using a AECOM provided Vehicle to conduct fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections.
• Physically able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable environmental conditions including heat, dust, noise, and dryness.
• Conducting fieldwork and wearing PPE (gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection).

Responsibilities

• Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
• Sets up and operates standard testing equipment of moderate complexity.
• Performs fieldwork, including environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
• Operates heavy equipment including a tractor and attachments.
• Maintains project documentation and performs related calculations.
• Ability to work independently.
• Collects soil and groundwater samples.
• Works with remediation systems including air sparge and biovent.
• Engages in safety programs.
