Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a full-time Environmental Technician specializing in landfill CQA. This field-based role is managed through our Goshen, NY or Woodbridge, NJ offices, with travel to project sites required.

Ideal candidates will assist with monitoring, testing, documentation, sampling, and construction services on active projects, while adhering to safety procedures at landfills and cleanup sites. Flexibility for extended workweeks during peak periods is expected.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and related Office applications.
• Ability to follow established procedures and direction from senior project personnel.
• Ability to organize field data and prepare clear, accurate documentation.
• Availability to travel to project sites and work variable or extended schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assist with office, field, and testing assignments under the direction of senior technicians, field managers, engineers, or project managers.
• Support landfill CQA monitoring and other construction-related field activities.
• Help plan and prepare for field assignments, including ordering job-specific supplies and organizing equipment.
• Maintain field and testing equipment in good working condition.
• Collect samples, field measurements, observations, and other project data in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain accurate field activity logs, testing records, measurement data, and sample documentation.
• Operate field equipment and, when assigned and properly qualified, construction equipment.
• Assist with technical research and construction services.
• Communicate field observations and project information to internal project teams.
• Follow established health and safety procedures on every assignment.
• Work at landfills, hazardous waste sites, contaminated sites, and other locations where heavy equipment, contamination, or similar hazards may be present.
