Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited seeks an Environmental Specialist to join the on-site Environmental Team in Alaska. You will support sampling, waste management, site inspections, and reporting, while overseeing contractors to facilitate site work and manage spill response.

A strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance is essential. You will handle data collection, sample preparation, and documentation, while maintaining equipment and ensuring adherence to MSHA and EPA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science or related field.
• Ability to read and apply laws, permits, reports, and SDS.
• Computer literacy with MS Office.
• Good communication skills.
• Current Driver’s License.
• Background check and post-offer physical required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct compliance monitoring and quality control audits.
• Write and maintain environmental plans.
• Investigate permit questions and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct field inspections and prepare reports.
• Develop and update waste management procedures.
• Train site staff on hazardous waste handling.
• Collect and report environmental data (emissions, samples, etc.).
• Maintain sampling equipment and calibration.
• Prepare samples for testing (water, soil, waste).
• Record test data and produce summaries and charts.
• Maintain sampling documents and records.
• Ensure safety activities meet MSHA requirements and company policy.
