Job summary

Fermi America is seeking an Environmental Manager to lead the day‑to‑day environmental program for the Matador power plant construction site in Texas. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while directing a team of field Environmental Coordinators in the field.

You will report to the Director of HSSE and drive permit management, monitoring, and incident investigations to keep construction on schedule and compliant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in environmental compliance with 5+ years in leadership on large projects.
  • Deep knowledge of Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA and related Texas regs.
  • Experience leading field environmental professionals on construction sites.
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Own and improve the site environmental compliance program and policies.
  • Supervise field Environmental Coordinators and ensure coverage.
  • Manage permits and monitoring for air, water, stormwater, waste, and spills.
  • Oversee SWPPP implementation and stormwater inspections.
  • Lead field environmental inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain SPCC, waste management, and incident investigations.
  • Interface with agencies (TCEQ, EPA, USACE) for inspections and permits.
  • Report performance metrics and risks to senior leadership.
