Job summary

Fermi Environmental Management is seeking an Environmental Manager to lead the field environmental program at the Matador power plant construction site. You will oversee compliance with federal, Texas, and local permits and mentor field Environmental Coordinators.

Reporting to the Director of HSSE, you will drive audits, incident investigations, and regulatory interface, balancing environmental stewardship with construction pace and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of environmental compliance experience with 5+ years in leadership on large industrial projects.
  • Deep knowledge of Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, SWPPP/SPCC and Texas regulations.
  • Experience leading a field team of environmental professionals.
  • Ability to interpret and manage permit conditions on active construction.
  • Excellent communication across levels from craft to executive.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the site environmental compliance program, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise, mentor, and schedule field Environmental Coordinators; ensure consistent oversight.
  • Manage compliance with all environmental permits (air, water, stormwater, waste, SPCC) and maintain monitoring and records.
  • Oversee SWPPP implementation, BMPs, and stormwater inspections with corrective actions.
  • Conduct and oversee environmental inspections and audits at the work face.
  • Maintain SPCC and spill response readiness; manage waste characterization and disposal.
  • Lead investigation of environmental incidents and regulatory reporting.
  • Hold contractors accountable to environmental requirements and review plans.
  • Serve as a contact for agency inspections; maintain permits, logs, and documentation.
  • Track performance metrics and report status to leadership.
