Job summary

Kansas Department of Health and Environment seeks an Environmental Laboratory Assessor to conduct on-site assessments for laboratory certification, review applications, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The role requires self-motivation, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities include preparing findings, providing assistance during accreditation, and presenting QA topics to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access skills.
  • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural science field and 2 years of lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • FIELD LABS: Plan and conduct on-site assessments for environmental certification in KDHE regulations.
  • Review previous assessments and applications for preparation; evaluate laboratories’ technical competence.
  • Prepare and send a report of findings within expected timeframes; determine approvals, denials, suspensions as needed.
  • Develop presentations and training materials on QA/QC and data integrity; interact with IT/ELIPO LIMS staff for database needs.
  • Maintain current awareness of regulations and accreditation processes affecting KDHE's program and labs.
