Job summary

Apex seeks an Environmental Engineer 1 to join our expanding Charlotte, NC team. You will conduct field inspections, collect samples, and assist with installing and maintaining remediation systems under senior oversight.

This role involves 50-75% fieldwork, subcontractor oversight, data gathering and reporting, and a strong emphasis on safety and professional growth within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• EI Certification desired.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Familiarity with environmental remediation including soil, soil gas, and groundwater treatment systems.
• 1+ years of related experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office; AutoCAD is a plus.
• Excellent technical communication skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Travel 50-75% for field sampling and system startups.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field-based activities such as site inspections, sample collection, testing, and analysis.
• Assist with installing, operating, and maintaining soil and groundwater remediation systems.
• Manage and oversee subcontractors in the field.
• Assist with project engineering design under Senior Engineer oversight.
• Assist with writing technical reports, proposals, and permitting documents.
• Gather, analyze, and interpret data.
• Input data into template reports.
• Ensure safe work practices on all project work.
• Actively develop your own career growth.
