Job summary

Actalent in Topeka, KS is seeking an Engineering Technician to support drilling and subsurface investigation projects. This hands-on, field-based role involves assisting drilling crews with site operations, sample collection, equipment maintenance, and project support.

The successful candidate will perform physically demanding outdoor work, travel locally and regionally as needed, and participate in training and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in construction, drilling, field services, environmental work, mechanical maintenance, or general labor preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and regionally.
• CDL is a plus and may qualify for higher pay.

Responsibilities

• Assist drilling crews with field investigations and drilling activities.
• Support site setup, equipment mobilization, and sample collection.
• Load, transport, and maintain drilling tools and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on rigs, trucks, trailers, and support equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain clean, organized work areas.
• Assist with shop, yard, and equipment preparation between projects.
