Job summary

Bo-Mac Contractors, Ltd. in the Baton Rouge/New Orleans, LA area invites qualified candidates for a Field Engineer/Surveyor/Rodman role. You will perform surveys: topographic, hydrographic, and boundary, and provide precise layout for marine and land-based construction projects.

The position is outdoors in varying weather; candidates should be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work with Total Stations and slope lasers. TWIC card required; 5 years preferred for advanced consideration.

Qualifications

• Must have a TWIC card.
• Constant standing, walking, reaching, crawling, balancing, and grasping.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, climbing, stooping/crouching, and kneeling.
• All aspects of vision are required - acuity, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Ability to talk and hear is very important for communication with supervisor and co-workers on safety and operational matters.
• Preference given to candidates with 5 years of Field Engineer/Surveyor/Rodman experience at meets or exceeds performance expectations.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain survey control networks to guide construction activities accurately.
• Conduct topographic, hydrographic, and boundary surveys across coastal, overwater, and land-based environments.
• Provide precise layout and alignment data to support construction work such as marine structures, ports, and bridges.
• Capture and document actual construction dimensions and features for verification against design specifications.
• Maintain high precision in survey measurements to ensure all construction aligns with project plans and tolerances.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, construction managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate survey needs.
