Job summary

Hensel Phelps in Washington state is seeking a Field Engineer to support the Superintendent in front-line field management. The FE will perform layout, supervise trades, and ensure safety and quality across the project site.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, coordination with subcontractors, and use of 3D models and scheduling tools. This safety-sensitive position offers career growth, competitive pay, and benefits with the employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
• 1 year of experience and/or a combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Excel-based templates, ProjectSight, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.
• Past internships in construction are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
• Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction, including embedded items.
• Produce production trend analyses for quantities, schedules, and cost control reports.
• Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the project superintendent.
• May include directing a small workforce to gain supervisory experience.
• Coordinate material deliveries by checking material requirements in advance and comparing with delivery status.
• Inspect materials delivered to the job for quantity, quality and condition, and report missing/damaged items.
• Assist foremen and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.
• Oversight of trade partners and direction of workforces to gain supervisory experience.
• Participate in jobsite safety meetings and weekly safety audits.
• Collaborate with the VDC team on VDC scope of work, execution plan and deliverables.
• Review current 3D model viewing and scheduling software.
