Job summary

Eastern Communications Ltd. is hiring a Field Engineer in Washington state to ensure the integrity, configuration, and performance of mission-critical RF and IP-based systems.

You will bridge design, deployment, and sustainment, delivering commissioned solutions for public safety, utilities, and transportation customers. You will lead hands-on system integration, testing, and optimization while collaborating with Engineering, Project Management, and Field Services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical, Telecommunications, or Computer Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with LMR systems (P25, DMR, analog) or similar mission-critical radio tech.
• Strong RF and IP-network troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience using RF/network test equipment (service monitors, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers).
• Familiarity with L3Harris, Tait, Zetron, Kenwood or equivalent platforms.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and RF design drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with teams and customers.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, stage, and commission radio systems including P25, DMR, and analog networks.
• Perform end-to-end system testing, acceptance, and performance validation.
• Conduct RF coverage testing, site optimization, and RF propagation verification.
• Integrate hardware, firmware, and software releases into new and existing systems.
• Execute system upgrades and migrations with minimal customer impact.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for RF and network issues.
• Maintain documentation, configuration baselines, and performance logs.
• Serve as escalation point for major faults and outages; mentor technicians.
• Travel for multi-site deployments, commissioning, and customer acceptance testing.
