Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. is offering a Field Engineer Internship for Summer 2027 in the California Buildings district across Glendale, Irvine, San Diego, and Santa Barbara. The program runs for 4 or 8 months starting summer 2027, with an estimated hourly rate of $22 based on experience and project needs.

You will assist Field/Project Engineers, learn to read drawings and specifications, and participate in safety and quality audits while contributing to real projects in Southern California.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time student pursuing a construction-related degree.
• Desire to pursue a career as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or Estimator.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
• 18 years of age or older with a valid Driver’s License.
• Willing to work and live in the Southern California area and relocate to project locations.
• Must be able to navigate a construction site daily, climb ladders and stairs.
• Must be able to work around heavy equipment, cranes, and construction equipment.
• Employment contingent upon passing a substance abuse test by a third party.

Responsibilities

• Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents.
• Conducts safety audits and quality audits.
• Reads and understands drawings and specifications.
• Logs submittals, processes RFIs, and prepares reports.
• Assists with surveying and project layout.
• Maintains and updates field drawings, field equipment and records.
• Coordinates material deliveries and documentation.
• Attends project meetings and prepares memos, letters, and contracts.
• Assists with project documentation requirements and estimating with subcontractors.

Education

Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, etc.

Join us as aField Engineer Internship- Summer 2027for our California Buildingsdistrict, within our US Buildings sectorfor 4 or 8 months starting summer 2027. Depending on your assigned project as a Field Engineer Internship- Summer 2027, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

• Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents
• Conducts safety audits and quality audits
• Reads and understand drawings and specifications
• Logs submittals, process RFI’s and prepare reports
• Assists with surveying and project layout
• Maintains and update field drawings, field equipment and records
• Assists with coordinating subcontractors, vendors and field staff
• Coordinates material deliveries and documentation
• Attends relevant project meetings
• Prepares memos, letters, meeting minutes, contracts, and other forms and documents
• Assists with project documentation requirements
• Assists with estimating and soliciting subcontractors and/or suppliers for information and pricing
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, etc.
• A desire to pursue a career as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or Estimator
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

• Willing to temporarily relocate to project locations

The estimated hourly rate for this role is$22.00,based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
