Job summary

OHLA USA in the Greater Chicago Area is seeking an engineering intern to learn the engineering and technical aspects of construction both in the field and in the office.

You will work closely with project managers, superintendents, and crews to support deliverables, manage submittals, coordinate shop drawings, and assist in cost control. The program includes on-site hands-on training, exposure to scheduling, change orders, and learning OHLA USA safety policies in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of the construction industry preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong work ethic and team player capability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in project deliverables with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foreman, and Crews on Project Deliverables.
  • Process/manage material deliveries – ensure materials received are inspected for quantity and quality and follow contract documents.
  • Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
  • Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals, and resubmittals.
  • Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and cost accruals.
  • Accumulate data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
  • Process and estimate change orders and information requests as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Follow OHLA USA policies and safety procedures.

  • High level of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
  • Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and cost accruals.
  • Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
  • Process and estimate change orders and requests for information as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Follows OHLA USA policies and procedures, including safety policies.
Qualifications
