Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with project coordination, cost tracking, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, and subcontractor coordination.
• Coordinate between subcontractors and trades and manage specific subcontractors as a main contact.
• Produce or supervise shop drawings and support field inspections.
• Track submittals and RFIs, redline drawings for as-builts, and support drawings/ explanations as required.
• Order long lead and specialty materials and monitor availability.

Job Title: Field Engineer Intern

Reporting to: Project Manager

Department: Operations

Hourly Rate: $25-$28

Location: Various project sites throughout Los Angeles and Orange County

Position Summary

The Field Engineer Intern will support the Project Managers and Superintendents with project coordination, cost tracking, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, subcontractor coordination, material procurement, and field inspections. This role assists with interpreting drawings and specifications, resolving technical issues, and maintaining accurate project documentation throughout construction.

Responsibilities

The following items are possible activities for an intern under Project Manager supervision, however, based on the size of the project, he/she/they would only be assigned certain items from the list and the other items would be given to other engineers on the same project:

• Cost reports
• Cost look ahead and look backs
• Payments, subcontractor requisitions
• Prepare additional work orders (AWOs)
• Negotiate AWOs
• CPM schedule update, six week look ahead, two week look ahead
• Submit RFIs
• Coordinate between subcontractors and trades
• Manage specific subcontractors and be the main contact and coordinator
• Produce or supervise the production of shop drawings
• Supervise and inspect field work and could be made fully responsible for specific locations within the jobsite
• Coordinate with superintendent and provide drawings and explanations as required
• Understand drawing details and specification requirements and relate it to the superintendent
• Order long lead and specialty materials and also keep track should this material run out
• Resolve technical issues with the Architect /Engineer
• Prepare submittals for work to be performed
• Track submittals, RFIs
• Redline drawings for as-builts

Qualifications

Compensation: The base hourly rate being offered for this position is USD $25.00 per hour to USD $28.00 per hour. Please note that the salary range listed is specific to the role listed in California. Hourly rates may vary for different individuals in the same role based on various factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, and performance.
